It's not as nice to hear as it probably should be, if only because Jerry doesn't like to think about the reasons why that's the case. On one hand, it does mean a lot that he can be that for her, especially when he remembers too well not being the only guy in her life, and when it took so long for them to get here at all. For a while, he hadn't thought that they ever would. Even so, despite the fact that he wouldn't know how to say so, he wishes things had been better for her before. Ducking his head to press a kiss to the top of hers, he shrugs easily. "Yeah, well," he says, "I could say the same."
