Jerry doesn't know how to respond to that, really, if he's meant to downplay it or acknowledge it or tell her what a surprise it really is to hear. Thinking back on it now, he knows he must have been aware of it on some level, or at least that she had a good reason to keep coming around other than just the sex. After the fight they had, though, and the days she didn't call, he stopped being so sure. Even if it isn't as big a deal as she's making it out to be, when it isn't as if he was doing it knowingly, it's pretty fucking heady, being told he could have done so much for her, if only because he knows that, true or not, she believes it.
