Jerry means to agree, even opens his mouth to do so, but she's so close and it's just too tempting to lean in and kiss her. Though this is one part of what they're doing that isn't new in the slightest, he can't make sense of it. Even so, that's hardly any reason to stop. Besides, when she's just agreed to go out with him for the first time they've been able, he isn't sure how he could be expected to do anything else. It means too much, and in ways he hasn't yet figured out how to give voice to. "I guess it does," he says when he's drawn back, mostly just to take a deep breath, half-teasing. "I would've felt like a real fool if I'd shown up here and you turned me down."
